 Description:
MAKAZI CAPSULESÂ is a semisynthetic antibiotic belonging to the
azalide group It’s an antibacterial agent that inhibits protein synthesis,
classified under the antibiotics pharmacological group The molecular weight of
Azithromycin is 78500
 Pharmacodynamic Properties:
Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits
bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the ribosomal 50s subunit and
inhibiting peptide translocation It concentrates in phagocytes and contributes
to drug distribution in inflamed tissues
 Microbiological Coverage:
Makazi is effective against various bacteria, including
Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus pneumoniae, Herophilus influenzae,
Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia pneumonia, and more It’s important to note
that some bacterial strains may be resistant to Azithromycin
 Therapeutic Indications:
Makazi is prescribed for the treatment of:

sinusitis - Â Community acquired
pneumonia - Â Pharyngitis/tonsillitis
- Â Uncomplicated skin
and skin structure infections - Â Genital ulcer
diseases in men - Â Acute bacterial
exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
 Dosage and Method of Administration:
Makazi should be taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours
after a meal The dosage varies based on the condition and its severity
 Precautions:
- Â Makazi is not
recommended in patients with severe liver disease or hypersensitivity to
Azithromycin - Â Caution is advised in
patients with renal impairment, and it should not be used in patients with
severe renal dysfunction - Â It should be used
with caution in patients at risk for prolonged cardiac repolarization - Â The drug should only
be used when necessary during pregnancy or lactation
 Interactions:
Azithromycin may interact with various drugs, including
aluminum based antacids, cyclosporine, digoxin, and more Consult a healthcare provider
for potential interactions
 Side Effects:
Common side effects include gastrointestinal symptoms like
diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and vomiting Less frequently, it may cause
